I estimate about $1Billion in value lying idle in Zimbabweans Tourism assets .I recently took 3 trips , one to Great Zimbabwe and Lake Mutirkiwi, one to Pamuzinda lodge and Safari and one at Makurumure waterfall in Wedza .The most developed asset on my trip was Pamuzinda lodge and Safari and Chengeta lodge where they were many Tourists on site across both lodges and clearly there is traction and business happening here .Great Zimbabwe is fair, I asked our guide the average visitors per month and he said we recieve about 3000 a month , early 2000s we used to do more than 15k monthly visitors.Lake Mutirkiwi is almost a dead asset as there is no decent activities or flow of people..Makurumire waterfall is a dead asset as there is nothing! People literally risk their lives to visit this waterfall as there is no commercial entity on site, its literally just the waterfallLooking at these sites, its clear to me that the sites with the more interesting scenic views or features such as a beautiful Lake or a beautiful waterfall are the ones that actually don’t have serious activity. And yet Pamuzinda Safari is man made and clearly is doing serious business .It’s the common issue of investment and management , they just isn’t enough Capital looking into Zimbabwe tourism assets.Perhaps we haven’t packaged these assets adequately for Capital raise ? And finding good partners?Stats coming out of Tourism authorities in Zimbabwe say we are currently a $1.2Billion Tourism economy and we are targeting $5 Billion by 2025.Easily without doubt if there is investment in water activities like Jet Skis , cruise boats at Lake Mutirikwi we will see increase in average customer spent , now imagine if another investor adds a helicopter 🚁 ride to view Lake Mutirkiwi , now imagine If someone introduces dinner cruises were people can wine and date.The same is true for Makurumire falls which requires a serious taker that can takeover the asset and bring Initiatives on site like camping , water activities, Quad biking and many other activities that will boost the travel economy from $0 to maybe $5million in one year. I can see that easily executonaable and easily doable..Imagine a helicopter 🚁 view of the great zimbabwe ? I bet many people will pay $150 for a 15mins ride .So the opportunities are countless , it is indeed true that we can easily activate a billion dollars from idle Tourism assets in Zimbabwe
