On a recent winter Sunday (the 5th of July), we set out from Harare to the quiet farming hub of Headlands for a very special occasion: my father-in-law's birthday lunch.

If you are traveling with family, highway comfort and reliable ground clearance are non-negotiable. For this trip, we opted to rent a 2025 Hyundai Creta from Yarutso Car Rental in Harare.

- Tollgates: Traveling only as far as Headlands means you only encounter one tollgate (the Melfort Tollgate, located near Ruwa/Goromonzi).
